This is a short instrumental version of Here come the sun played on the ukulele. It's a one take demo. The Beatles song is really beautiful and given that George Harrison was an excellent ukulele player I thought I'd record a version featuring just the ukulele.

You never give me your money

The only reason I posted this is because it is such a beautiful piece of music by the Beatles.

I decided to try and take this song more into the humorous sphere, and played it in a music hall style, which is probably along the lines of where Paul McCartney was looking at.

Ukuleles, acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, tapping a rhythm out on a guitar body, and vocals.

Couldn't mix that bass as sweet as I wanted to, but it's in there. Sorry, no barking sounds Sad

Lyrics:

Sheepdog, standing in the rain
Bullfrog, doing it again
Some kind of happiness is
Measured out in miles
What makes you think you're
Something special when you smile

Childlike no one understands
Jackknife in your sweaty hands
Some kind of innocence is
Measured out in years
You don't know what it's like
To listen to your fears

You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If you're lonely, you can talk to me

Big man (yeah) walking in the park
Wigwam frightened of the dark
Some kind of solitude is
Measured out in you
You think you know me, but you haven't got a clue

You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If you're lonely, you can talk to me

Hey hey
Roar
Hey, bulldog (hey bulldog)
Woof
Hey,…

Took a break from work this evening to help round out the Abbey Road initiative... If you've never heard of The Beatles - you should really check them out. They put out some top quality stuff.

Waiting to see if anything else falls through the cracks Abbey Road wise... I love learning Beatles tunes.

Lyrics:

Boy, you gotta carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
I never give you my pillow
I only send you my invitation
And in the middle of the celebrations
I break down
Boy, you gotta carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you gotta carry that weight
You're gonna carry that weight along time

Thought I'd start with the shortest Abbey Road song. This is a piano version.

My contribution to the Abbey Road covers!

I performed this yesterday at an outdoor market, but this recording is at home. I went ahead and included "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" because that's how it segues on the album. You must check out the version of "She Came In ..." that @TomS did!

Then I went back into a faster "Polythene Pam" and got somewhat tongue-tied at the end.

This was one of the first songs I ever played in a band. I was 15 or so. Ford was still president. I had a Crescent Les Paul copy. Wish I still had it! Smile

I have three versions of this and I just decided enough is enough and this is best version. Too much lyrics in my opinion.

Lyrics:

The Ballad of John and Yoko
The Beatles

Standing in the dock at Southampton
Trying to get to Holland or France
The man in the mac said
You've got to go back
You know they didn't even give us a chance
Christ you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me

Finally made the plane into Paris
Honeymooning down by the Seine
Peter Brown call to say
You can make it O.K.
You can get married in Gibraltar near Spain
Christ you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me

Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton
Talking in our beds for a week
The newspapers said
Say what're you doing in bed
I said we're only trying to get us some peace
Christ you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me

Saving up your money for a rainy day
Giving all your clothes to charity
Last night the wife said
Oh boy when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you but your soul, think

Made a lightning trip to Vienna
Eating chocolate cake in a bag
The newspapers said
She's gone to his head
They look just like two gurus in drag
Christ you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me

Caught the early plane back to London
Fifty acorns tied in a sack
The men from the press
Said we wish you success
It's good to have the both of you back
Christ you know it ain't easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me

I'm not sure why I have the urge to create a 1984-ish science fiction dystopia through music.
Several of my songs over the past few years have been set in this same world.

This is maybe at the extreme end of Beatles cover versions, but I hope you will consider it worthy.

Headphones recommended, as usual.
